The First Week!

I'll admit it, my first week of blogging wasn't exactly very productive but then again it's the last week of college for me, so I'm busy with exams and moving out of the dorm. Anyway, onto this week's accomplishments!

Party Time!
Joined a party out in West Altepa after LFG for a couple hours. Exp/hour wasn't the most amazing ever and the party's RDM/designated healer was still new to timing refresh so he wasn't always casting it on everyone...but that was ok!

(Closing Distortion with a well-timed SA+Viper Bite is always fun!)

After a few hours of continuous beetle grinding, I was very happy to see this...

Yay! So far, THF has progressed two levels since the beginning of my "Road to 75" challenge. I'm sure my progression will really speed up after I finish up classes this week.

Soup Thieving!
I figured that since I was past the minimum level, I would start working on my first AF piece for Thief. After several Tenshodo cutscenes, I trekked it out to Selbina and met up with a surprisingly sneaky Galka who told me to steal a bowl of Quadav soup (gross!). I made my way to Beadeaux and, upon hearing on linkshell mate's horror story of taking days to steal the soup, expected the worst. Luckily, I managed to snag the nasty stew on my 4th steal attempt! I high-tailed it back to Selbina, got a letter from Mr. Sneaky-Galka and picked up this little thing in Jueno...

The Joys of Blink-Tanking aka I Hate Leveling Ninja
After hitting THF44, I realized that two more levels would make my NIN22 inferior =[

So, I pulled out my Ninja gear from my mule Snerd and took out Gigas with a party in Lower Delkfutt's Tower. I only managed one level and experience was quite slow, but progress is still progress! Only 14 more dreadful levels of Ninja left...and I'm going to need to quest the rest of those scrolls soon.../sigh

Demon-Armor Gang Rape!
Having never actually tried the Feast of Swords holiday event, I grabbed myself an Ibushi Shinai and got to work hacking away at the local possessed armors...one Additional effect: 1 damage at a time.

After absorbing a ton of TP attacks by the evil armors and facing more than a few unpleasant deaths, I traded my Ibushi Shinai to the ??? and got...

Then...after even MORE death and absorption, I got this...

Yeah...I know they're nothing to look at, (heck, I don't even have an NPC Fellow yet!) but the event was fun as I got to team up with some linkshell buddies and had my fair share of laughs when the roaming Mithra armor one-shotted everyone in the party.

Overall, this week was a slow one and didn't see a ton of accomplishment. However, the level grind will start for real next week. Until then, this is Drens of Fenrir signing off!~~

I'd better introduce myself...

First off...

That's me.

Yeah, the funny looking Tarutaru with glasses. I don't wear 'em all the time though, otherwise my parties would get
prettttty pissed come night time (that -20 acc is a bitch!)

Anyway, I'm brand spankin' new to this whole blogging thing and thought I'd give it a shot after checking out some other cool blogs of some of my fellow FFXI-ers (check out the links on the side!). I've decided to give the blog a bit of a theme, thus the whole "Road to 75" subtitle. My first year at college ends in a week (thank god!) and I've set a summer goal for myself. Betcha can't guess what it is!

Got it yet?

How about now?

Ok, ok if you haven't guessed it yet, it's pretty obvious if you look at the countdown timer at the top of the page.

That's right! My summer goal is to party like crazy this summer (exp party that is) and get my thief to level 75!
Luckily, I've already got a pretty good head start...as you can tell from the shot below.

Yup. I'm already THF43/NIN21, but that doesn't make the road to 75 any less daunting!

So, now I suppose you're thinking "Well that's great Drens! Way to set a goal for yourself! But what in the heck is the point of all this blogging?"

Good question! I'm going to be using this blog as:
  1. A way of tracking progress towards my ultimate goal of THF75/NIN37
  2. A means of reporting daily/weekly (haven't decided yet) in-game activities including fun linkshell events, positive party experiences, and funny quotes that are always 175% funnier when taken completely out of context.
  3. A means of training myself in the ways of blog management in the hopes of making new blogs for other, more academic, things.
Well, I guess that's all for now! I'll try to get this blog going for real next week once I get in the habit of playing every day like I used to. For now, this is Drens from Fenrir server signing out!
